For the city folk who are always looking out for something new and different in the city, here is something new to cheer you up. Frescobites the new restaurant in town run by Praveen Parambath, a former banker, promises to offer some mouth-watering ‘nadan’ cuisine. Located on the Kesavadasapuram-Ulloor Road above Baskin Robins, this small and cozy place is an ideal hangout place.
The transition from a banker and IT consultant to a restaurateur has been a smooth one for Praveen.
“I am a globetrotter. And it is what I saw outside on my travels that inspired me to begin a restaurant. And since hotel business was always there in the family, this gave me all the more confidence to go for it,” Praveen says.
Asked about the meaning of ‘Frescobites’ Praveen says, “Fresco in Italian simply means ‘fresh’. So it simply means fresh bites. I see to that everything that we cook here is done with utmost care. Our motto is to serve our customers with quality food. And we don’t use ajinomoto or other food chemicals in our food,” he adds.
Frescobites has some choice delicacies to choose from. The highlight is the local cuisine which has puttu- kadal curry, appam-chicken stew, mutton stew, masala dosa, egg dosa, nadan kozhi curry, mutton curry and the like which is available from 3 pm to 11 pm. For lunch you have delectable Malabari biriyani and express thali - a small thali with rice, veggies and a curry for veg thali and non-veg thali will have chicken or fish. This is available from 12 noon to 3 pm.
Keeping in mind the Malayali love for Chinese cuisine Praveen has also included some Chinese cuisine in the ala carte as well.
“As far as I have noticed people will go for pasta and such items only rarely, nobody would like to have it on a regular basis. I wanted to provide something the customers would prefer on any day,” says Praveen on making local cuisine the highlight of his menu.
North Indian varieties of food are another attraction at Frescobites.
In case you are not in the mood for anything elaborate, do not worry as they have coffee and snacks on the menu as well. The succulent American and French omelets are definitely a must try.
Praveen, the perfect host that he is, also makes it a point to build a rapport with his customers. “I have had many customers tell me that they really appreciate this gesture because in most places they are just served the food. They are never asked for their feed back. I like to make it a perfect time for my customers and hence make sure that they are satisfied,” he adds.
The café is open from 11 am to 11 pm. For details you can call 8281444440.
