Bollywood beauties have been spotted in classic buns or braided styles, both on the red carpet and off it. Deepika Padukone recently sported a classic bun at the Met Gala 2017. Alia Bhatt is always seen experimenting with hairstyles such as crown, milkmaid and good girl braids. If you are looking for something more informal, accessorise your bun and braid with hair and tie with fun colours bands, small hair pieces, broche or a bow. Here are some ways to keep your unruly tresses in control in a stylish way.

Bring on the braid

There are different ways of sporting a braid. The look goes well with any outfit, whether modern or ethnic. Fishtail hair band style is not complicated if you know how to make one. Tie your hair into a low ponytail, make a fishtail braid and wrap it around your head like a hair band. Loosen the braid a little for thickness and some loose strands around the face for a softer look.

There’s another way of making the braid work for you. Part your hair at the centre and braid your long bangs. This easy breezy hairstyle with a twist is suitable for girls with long hair.
You can also do this hairstyle with a side part. Make a braid on one side. You can choose to leave your hair loose or loosely tie it into a side ponytail.

A chic way of wearing a minimal braided look is to straighten your hair and make a side part. On one side, tightly braid a fishtail and wrap it around half head and tuck it with a pin at the back. It is semi-formal and can be worn to work as well as casual luncheons.

Have fun with a bun

Forget grandmother’s bun. We are talking about unique, minimalistic braided buns that go well with both pantsuits and saris. It is not only easier to pull off, but also goes well when you have to be slightly formal. Take all your hair at the back and make a low braid, fold the braid upwards and tuck in a vertical shape (like a French bun).

This is pretty formal and can be worn to work as well as at formal evenings, paired with gowns or dresses.

For free-spirited girls, there are top knot braided buns that give an effortlessly-stylish look. Tie your hair into a very high ponytail. Part the ponytail into several sections and make braids of each section. Wrap and roll each braid, tuck it in together to make a top knot. It will give your hair amazing texture. Pull out some loose strands around the face for a graceful look. But, whichever look you choose, do not forget to wear a confident smile.
