I am the Supreme Reality

I am the truth that knows no divisions and is free of it completely too, says Sri Dattatreya in the Avadhuta Gita. I am neither within, nor without. I am the supreme reality and the essence of it. I am beyond any happening, any creation. I was never created at any point of time. I am not attached to anything, nor am I a thing. I am the nectar of immortality, evenly present in everything and like the sky.

I am free of the impurities such as attachment and others that follow it, such as hatred. My essence is myself, I. I do not have any imperfections in my nature, such as daiva—fate or destiny. I am free of the sorrow and impurities of the life of Samsara. I am the essence that is present in everything, the nectar of immortality. I am like the space that is present within and without.

When there are not even the three states of consciousness such as waking, dream and deep sleep state, how can there be something called Turiya or the super-consciousness, beyond the three states? If there is no past, present and future, how can there be directions as time is always connected and referred in relation to space? I am that supreme space which is full of peace and the ultimate reality. I am like the sky. I am the essence, the juice that knows no death. I am everywhere.

I, the self, am neither long nor short I am neither broad, nor narrow,  I have no different forms such as triangular or circular. I am the supreme essence without any divisions. I am not any relationship such as mother, father or son at any point of time. I am not born at any point of time and I never die at any time too. I am not the mind too.

I have no distractions that drag me here and there. I am always centred, steady and calm. I am the essence that is like the sky and present in everything.

If I am the mind, then it is the form of the purest and supremely pure mind which is beyond any search or enquiry. I am beyond attachment and non-attachment and I am neither many pieces nor one piece. Then how can there be a group of gods beginning from Brahma? How can there be living places such as Swarga or heaven, earth and other worlds of experiences? There is nothing else, except the one pure supreme essence called the truth which is like the sky and the nectar of immortality.

Sri Dattatreya approaches the truth from all its facets and dimensions that we are aware of and rejects everything that we can possibly conceive of, to say that reality is beyond all this.
