Popular technology website Verge has declared UP is the best fitness app available for the iPhone. Not very coincidentally, UP 3 is the best fitness band available on the market today that is helping millions of people track their fitness levels, monitor their sleep patterns and lead a healthier lifestyle. Both the fitness band UP 3 and its corresponding app UP are made by the company Jawbone, where Sameer Samat is incharge of all the products as the president of the company. Samat has a BS in Computer Science from the University of California in San Diego. Even while at the university, Samat founded and acted as the CEO of Sourcebank, a search engine aimed at computer programmers to help them find free, reusable source code on the Internet. After selling the technology, he co-founded and acted as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Mohomine at the age of 22. Samat then moved to the buying company Kofax as its CTO. In 2007, he joined Google as a Product Management Director and by the time he left this year, he was acting as the vice-president of Product Management and specifically incharge of the shopping and commerce products from the search giant. Now as a president at Jawbone, Samat will be one of the biggest players in the rapidly growing fitness bands and wearables market.
