Research firm Gartner has kept Apple Inc in the limelight as the company came out with interesting facts that revealed Apple Inc sold a large number of its smart phones unlike any other mobile majors across the globe in the fourth quarter.

The Garner’s report, which revealed the exact statistics of the sales, said that Apple sold 78.43 million handsets compared to Samsung, which sold 73.3 mobile phones all over the world. It has to be mentioned here that these records are arrived at after detailed study of sales from 2011 to till date.

Garner has also observed that this overwhelming increase in the sales of Apple phones was predominantly because of the big display of iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.

Meanwhile, S&P analyst Howard Silverblatt, who focused on the study of the profits, has mentioned that Apple has reported a profit of $18 billion.

While Apple sales rose by 49 per cent in the fourth quarter, Samsung sales dipped by around 12 per cent, reported Garner.

It may be noted that Samsung recently unveiled ultra slim Galaxy S smartphones apparently to regain its market share.
