NEW DELHI: Chinese electronics giant Xiaomi launched its budget smartphone Redmi 2 in India for just Rs 6,999 on Thursday. This revised version of Redmi is set pose a strong competition for other budget phones like Moto E and Lenovo A6000.

Redmi 2 comes with 4.7-inch IPS HD display (1280 x 720 pixels), 64-bit 1.2Ghz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, front camera comes with a 2MP camera and an 8MP rear camera with LED flash. Unfortunately the Indian users get it with 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage compared to the Chinese users who get 2GB Ram and 16GB internal storage.

It comes with the latest MiUi 6 interface and Android 4.4. The Dual SIM phone also supports 4G in both the slots. Xiaomi has increased it battery power with a 2,200mAh.

The registrations are set to open today at 6PM. The phone comes in two colors – grey and white.
