Give your home a touch of Europe

Give your home a touch of Europe

Nine amazing tips from Parushni Aggarwal, Founder of Studio Creo.

Parushni Aggarwal knew early on that she had a real affinity for interiors. She pursued her design knowhow at Parsons School of Design, New York and earned an Associate Degree in Interior Design. Soon after, she gained valuable experience at Perkins Eastman Architects, New York.

An Economics graduate from Delhi University, Parushni‘s passion for good, accessible design prompted her to start Studio Creo – an interior design service combined with a furnishing store. The idea was to set new standards of elegance and taste in interiors with a minimalist yet opulent style. Sure enough, she has succeeded in doing so. Today, Parushni works with leading European contemporary designers such as Boffi, Fantoni, Calligaris and Tagina.

One of her first accomplishments at Studio Creo was working together with the Bangalore-based  Bhartiya Group, to establish the extraordinary Nikoo furniture concept. Since then, she has executed many design projects ranging from high-end apartments to corporate offices and retail. Be it a traditional interior or  a contemporary one, Parushni strives to develop interior spaces with an underlying classicism that survives trends.

“Making good design accessible to everyone, wherever they live, is a fundamental belief that I follow in my work at Creo,” says Parushni.

Here are her easy ideas on how to give your home a European touch.

1.Try to incorporate open kitchens. The kitchen is the place where the family gets together. In this fast-paced world, accessibility to the kitchen gives the family more time together, specially the working woman.

2.Have bathtubs in the

centre of the bathroom. This will enable an open and expansive sense of space as you spend some much-needed time relaxing and unwinding from life and all your troubles.

3.Use soft colours with

pastel shades. Colours play a pivotal role in the design and style of a home. Use soft colours with pastel shades to provide a light and calming space, which can also be unique and inspiring.

4.Use minimalistic furniture. The furniture needs to be straight-lined as this modern touch will expand your space. Bulky furniture items make a space look congested and small. Try to invest in furniture pieces that can play multiple roles.

5.Use mirrors in the house. Mirrors make spaces look large, besides enhancing the lighting at night. They give an open and multi dimensional feel to the entire space.

6.Mood lighting can transform any space. Be it a large living room or a corner of your study, mood and indirect lighting can help blend all aspects and give warmth to your home.

7.Choose light floor tiles. Light shades make the space look larger, roomier. This is an easy way to enhance the lighting effects.

8.Use floral accessories. Think European and you always get transported to the Victorian era. Wild or delicate flowers in soft pastels adorning the space in chinaware, cushions and bedspreads, is a beautiful way to give your home the personal European touch.

9.Go for technology driven design. The perfect balance between visual and functional appeal is found in European homes, as almost all aspects are thought of in terms or utility as well as aesthetics. This becomes a very individual selection as we have to find the right kind of technology that assists us and place the same conveniently in our home.
