Bengaluru-based start-up Houzify will reinvent the way you design your home

Doing up your home is no easy feat. But Houzify, a mobile marketplace for home interiors, will make it look like a breeze. India’s first mobile app for sharing inspiring home interior designs, Houzify (get.houzify.com/exp) showcases hundreds of top-notch ideas to inspire your home. The ideas are sourced from the best interior designers and nicest homes across the country so you know they’re totally doable right here. Plus, the app puts the convenience of finding your inspiration anytime or anyplace right in your pocket.

Created by Shailesh Kochhar, Gunaseelan R and Chintan Punjabi, Houzify was set up with the idea to make the daunting world of home interiors easily accessible. The founders all come from diverse backgrounds. While Kochhar is a techie who has worked with Amazon and Google, Gunaseelan has had a successful career at mobile giants InMobi & OnMobile, and Punjabi is an interior designer who has been trained in strategic design from Domus Academy in Milan. All three experienced the frustrations of creating personal spaces. They realised that online sources that referenced Western ideas and information don’t really work here.

Truth be told, home decor hasn’t kept up with the digital transformation. This is where Houzify steps in. Every project needs a vision to help you pick items which go together harmoniously. It has hand-picked the best quality design ideas and packaged them into a beautiful mobile app, which helps you figure out what you want to do before you start doing it. The designs are backed by a vetted and curated set of professionals who make it possible for you to implement the ideas. If you discover a great interior designer who can make your dream bedroom, they get a new customer. The designer gets to showcase the results of the project through the app and will in turn inspire the next person to beautify their space as well. The number of designers who are seeing early activity is also very rewarding—Houzify has given them new business and their work is being appreciated by an entirely new audience.

Architect Rooshad Shroff says, “For me, an app like Houzify really opens up a larger visual directory of designers within the country. I could see this app being used by potential clients looking to find ideas for homes.”

Little wonder then that the app is picking momentum and is already doubling its base. While the iOS has been launched, an Android app is scheduled to be released this month. Get clicking.
