NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed a PIL which sought directives to the government to make it mandatory to imprint the photograph and signature of the holders on the credit, debit and ATM cards to prevent misuse.

A Bench comprising Chief Justice S H Kapadia, Justice A K Patnaik and Justice Swatanter Kumar said there are already some guidelines in place framed in this regard. The banks can take care of all these. The PIL was filed by a resident of Kolkata Avishek Goenka. Goenka said that the holders of the cards are prone to be targeted by criminals resulting in direct crimes.
