J’khand RS Poll to be Held Afresh on May 3

NEW DELHI: The election to the two Rajya Sabha seats from Jharkhand, which was scrapped over the allegations of horse-trading, will be held on May 3, the Election Commission said on Tuesday.

NEW DELHI: The election to the two Rajya Sabha seats from Jharkhand, which was scrapped over the allegations of horse-trading, will be held on May 3, the Election Commission said on Tuesday.

The three-member Commission decided the fresh dates in its meeting held here on Tuesday and a notification for the same would be issued on April 16, starting the process for filing of nominations.

As per the fresh schedule, the nominations can be filed up to April 23 and the scrutiny will be done on the next day. The last date for withdrawing nomination papers is April 26. The  polling will be held between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 3 and counting will be done at 5 p.m. on the same day. The EC has said that the election process has to be completed by May 5.
