NEW DELHI: Nancy Jo Powell, US ambassador-designate to India, arrived in India on Thursday, around a year after previous US envoy Timothy Roemer had resigned from office.
Powell, the first woman to be given the post, will formally take over her post at Roosevelt House after submitting her credentials to the President. A career diplomat, Powell is no stranger to the region, having been posted in Delhi and Calcutta previously from 1992 to 1995.
Earlier, Powell had posted a video on the internet on her vision for the US-India ties.
“I am impressed how deeper and broader Indian-American relations have become...,” she added.
