NEW DELHI: India has expressed sympathy to Pakistan over the plane crash outside Islamabad, which left over 100 dead on Friday evening, with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh sending a message of condolence to his Pakistani counterpart, Yusuf Raza Gilani.

“I was deeply grieved to learn of the air tragedy near Islamabad that occurred on Friday leading to the loss of so many precious lives,” Singh said in his message, adding his “deepest condolences to the families”.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Pakistan in this time of grief,” he said.

External Affairs Minister, S M Krishna, who is currently abroad on an official tour to Spain, also expressed his condolences. “I have just heard the news of the tragic air crash near Islamabad. I am deeply saddened and convey my deep condolences to the government and people of Pakistan in this hour of grief,” Krishna said.
