NEW DELHI: Did the Congress media cell chairperson Janardan Dwivedi commit a gaffe while hitting out at the Opposition, particularly the BJP, for raking up the 25-year-old Bofors issue yet again? May be he did, he said the Opposition party was leveling “baseless and irresponsible” allegations as the Lok Sabha elections are approaching!

Dramatically marching into a regular Congress briefing, quite unexpectedly, this is what Dwivedi had to say: “Whenever Lok Sabha elections are near, such issues are raised. Unfortunately, a trend of leveling irresponsible allegations has begun in the country. The Opposition, particularly the BJP, and its outfits are responsible for it.’’

Dwivedi, who clearly didn’t not think it fit to leave the Bofors briefing to the scheduled party speaker Renuka Choudhury, accused the BJP of displaying “a haste to come to power’’.
