Yoga guru Baba Ramdev's close aide Balkrishna, who is in jail in connection with a fake passport case, was equated with the freedom fighters at Ramdev's fast venue Ramlila Maidan on Thursday. A huge poster at the fast venue had Balkrishna's picture with the likes of Mahatma Gandhi, Subhash Chandra Bose and Bhagat Singh.
The poster was later removed after it was reported in the media. The poster with the tag line 'jail is the holy place of revolutionary' had the pictures of Mahatma Gandhi, Subash Chandra Bose, Sardar Vallab Bhai Patel, Jaya Prakash Narayan, Chandrashekhar Azad, Bhagat Singh, Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati, Shivaji and Balkrishna.
Ramdev's supporters present at the Ramlila Maidan even defended Balkrishna saying he had done no wrong.
Balkrishna was arrested last month in a fake passport case after he failed to appear at a Dehradun court. Balkrishna had allegedly provided fake documents to procure a passport.
