Jharkhand speaker charged with violating poll code

Charges were framed against Jharkhand assembly Speaker C.P. Singh in a case related to the violation of the model code of conduct during the 2009 Lok Sabha elections.

Charges were framed against Jharkhand assembly Speaker C.P. Singh in a case related to the violation of the model code of conduct during the 2009 Lok Sabha elections.

The charges were framed in a Ranchi court Friday.

The charges against Singh are that posters and banners were put up in banned areas of Ranchi.

Two months ago, Singh was convicted and sentenced to one month imprisonment in another case related to the violation of the model code of conduct.

He was granted bail immediately.
