Tihar Jail inmate hurt in clash

An inmate of Tihar Jail was injured after another convict attacked him with a sharp-edged weapon in a prison van in which they were en route to a court, police said Wednesday.

An inmate of Tihar Jail was injured after another convict attacked him with a sharp-edged weapon in a prison van in which they were en route to a court, police said Wednesday.

A police van carrying around 50 inmates were going to Tis Hazari court in North Delhi for their hearing when a scuffle broke out between the two inmates.

The injured inmate, Safiq Khan, 29, told police that Pawan Kumar attacked him with a sharp-edged weapon. He suffered injuries on his neck and wrist.

Police personnel stopped the van and took Khan to Aruna Asaf Ali hospital.
