UP government draws up multi-pronged strategy

The Akhilesh Yadav-led SP Government in UP has formulated a multi-pronged  strategy to turn the upcoming Maha Kumbh, which is expected to witness the assemblage of a record eightcrore people from all over the world, into an unprecedented success.

And both the Chief Minister as well as Chief Secretary Javed Usmani are getting daily updates on the arrangements being made for the gala event. Also, the Chief Secretary is holding regular meetings with the various department heads in this regard.

State Public Works Minister Shivpal Yadav had personally inspected the ongoing preparations for the Mela in Allahabad and issued the necessary directions. And it clearly revealed the top priority accorded to the Maha Kumbh by the state government.

The charming spectacle of the Maha Kumbh takes place only once in 12 years and it is held on the banks of ‘Triveni Sangam – the confluence of the Ganga, the Yamuna and the mythical Saraswati.

And devotees who descend on the venue of the Kumbh Mela in droves believe that by bathing in the Sangam, their worldly sins would get washed away and they would attain “moksha”(salvation) from the cycle of births and rebirths.

Already, the saints, sadhus and the members of the akhadas of the various Naga sects have reached Allahabad and started to pitch up their tents. Even though there have been differences among the seer groups over the tents and the area allotted to them, the mela officials are confident of resolving the issues amicably.

Meanwhile, the Divisional Commissioner of  Allahabad, who is also supervising the mela preparations, has expressed his deep dissatisfaction with the slow pace of the ongoing work. And he has shot off letters to the various departments urging them to speed up the work and to ensure its early completion.

So far, the deadline for the completion of the work has been extended thrice and the continued delay in its execution has given rise to much concern.
