FARUKHABAD: Speaking for the first time after siding with BJP, expelled BSP leader Babu Singh Kushwaha today said he had nothing to do with the rupees multi-crore scam in implementation of the national rural health mission in Uttar Pradesh.

"I was expelled from BSP after serving for 28 years due to rising influence of backwards. I have no role in NRHM scam. As inquiry is underway in the matter, I will not like to say much on this," he told a conference of Saini-Shakya-Kushwaha community here.

"I was insulted due to my community. FIRs were registered against me in Jhansi, Faizabad and Allahabad. My house and schools were demolished...I was ousted from my official residence with the help of police. State government used media to defame me," Kushwaha alleged.

Kushwaha said he decided to join BJP as it was the only party, which raised the issue of backwards.

Under attack from within and outside, the BJP on Saturday came out with an apparent face-saver by making Kushwaha offer to keep his party membership in suspension and his plea for suspension of his membership has been accepted by the party.
