Russian alleges rape in delhi

A Russian woman on Sunday alleged to have been sexually assaulted by five unidentified men here, the police said.

The woman, along with her husband, registered her compliant in the ‘Majnu ka Tila’ police station. She alleged that while she was passing through Majnu ka Tila with her husband, five men waylaid them.

“As per the complaint, the unidentified men took the couple to a secluded place assuring them that they will take them through the right direction and then sexually assaulted the woman,” senior officials said.

When the 28-year-old woman was taken to a hospital for medical examination she, however, refused to undergo the test and told the police that she did not want to proceed with the case.

The police sought the intervention of the Delhi Commission of Women, where a councillor tried to counsel the ‘victim’. Later, the woman gave the police in writing that she did not want to proceed with the case.

“The Russian embassy has been informed about the incident,” the officials said.
