LUCKNOW: The Election Commission has issued notification for constitution of 16th Assembly in Uttar Pradesh.

"The EC has issued notification for the constitution of the 16th Assembly under People Representation Act, copy of which I personally gave to the Governor," Chief Electoral Officer Umesh Sinha told PTI.

With this, he said, the model code of conduct applicable from December 23 last year has ceased to exist.

The polling for the UP Assembly elections was held in seven phases, and the results were announced on March 6 where the Samajwadi Party won absolute majority with 224 seats.
