NEW DELHI: Defence Minister A K Antony today reviewed the country's security situation with top officials including the National Security Adviser and the three Services chiefs.

During the hour-long meeting, he was updated on the prevailing security situation along all the country's frontiers and the immediate neighbourhood, Ministry officials said.

Besides NSA Shivshankar Menon, Army Chief Gen V K Singh, Navy Chief Admiral Nirmal Verma and IAF Chief Air Chief Marshal N A K Browne, the meeting was also attended by Defence Secretary Shashikant Sharma.

Antony is also believed to have been briefed about the counter insurgency operations in Jammu and Kashmir.

This is second such meeting held by the minister in the last two months. In February, he had held a similar meeting before proceeding to witness a major naval exercise codenamed TROPEX.

In the next few months, the army will also deploy the troops and equipment of its lethal 1 Strike Corps along with 10 Corps troops in the western desert for the Exercise Shoorveer.
