NEW DELHI: Pakistan’s military build-up along the LoC with India is on the rise, and as per intelligence inputs from the region, its Army has constructed about 900 new bunkers along the Indo-Pak border despite protests lodged by the Indian Army from time to time.

The information was revealed by Defence Minister A K Antony in a written reply to Rajya Sabha. “Government is aware through intelligence inputs that Pakistan has constructed and carried out repairs of bunkers, morchas and towers between 2004 and 2011,” Antony said. As per the data collected by the Indian sleuths, in the last seven years Pakistan has constructed 886 new bunkers, 261 Morchas, 398 watch towers and 143 Border Out Posts (BOPs).

“Protests have been lodged with Pakistan Rangers and Flag Meetings of Field Commanders are held in all the cases. The matter is also taken up by the BSF with Pakistan Rangers during scheduled meetings at various levels,” Antony said.
