NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Friday issued notice to Uttar Pradesh Panchyati Raj Minister Balram Singh Yadav on a CBI petition challenging the Allahabad High Court order, which had quashed criminal proceedings against Balram, in connection with the multi-crore Ayurveda scam.
A Bench of Justice H L Dattu and Justice C K Prasad issued the notice. Balram is a close aide of the Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and former state health minister. Last year, the HC had quashed the proceedings against Balram, holding that proper sanction was not obtained from the competent authority before the prosecution proceedings began .
