Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai arrived in Mumbai Friday afternoon on the first leg of his four-day visit to India, an official said here.

During his visit to the country's financial capital, Mumbai, Karzai will interact with captains of Indian business and industry to solicit investment in his country at a meeting to be organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Saturday.

Maharashtra Governor K. Sankaranarayanan hosted a dinner in honour of the visiting dignitary at Raj Bhavan Friday.

Present at the dinner were Radha Sankaranarayanan, Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and his wife Satvasheela, and Protocol Minister Suresh Shetty, besides other dignitaries.

On Monday, Karzai will meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New Delhi and discuss a broad range of issues concerning the two countries, besides other international issues.
