Anti-Sinha posters come up near BJP's central office

Posters critical of Yashwant Sinha appeared near the BJP's central office here Thursday, days after he demanded the resignation of party chief Nitin Gadkari over financial dealings of a company linked to him. The BJP has condemned the anti-Sinha posters.

"Whoever has done this mischief, we condemn it," Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said.

The poster carried a photo of Sinha, a senior BJP leader, and described him as "leader of scams".

Sinha said those responsible for putting up defamatory posters should identify themselves so that "we can start a debate".

Sinha had sought resignation of Gadkari saying that those in public life should be above reproach. The party had asked Sinha to reconsider his views.

BJP MP Ram Jethmalani and party national executive member Jagdish Shettigar have demanded that Gadkari should step down till he is exonerated of allegations over financial dealings of investor firms in the Purti group linked to him.

The BJP had given Gadkari a virtual clean chit following a probe by financial analyst S. Gurumurthy.
