The annual ‘Ayyappa Mahasangamam’, organised by the Sabarimala Ayyappa Seva Samajam, will be held at Guruvayur on November 10. Samajam national general secretary Kummanam Rajasekharan told Express on Thursday that the ‘mahasangamam’ (meeting of guruswamis and office-bearers of the samajam state units of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu and Kerala) would formulate the action plan for providing basic facilities to those arriving at Sabarimala for ‘darshan’ during pilgrimage season.
The day-long meet, which will see the participation of around 300 office-bearers representing the ‘samajam’ units from across south India, would begin with ‘Mahaganapathi homam’ at 4.30 am, followed by ‘Sreemad Ayyappa Bhagavatham’ recital and Ayyappa bhajans.
The public meeting, scheduled to commence from 10 am, will be inaugurated by Kalaimani Veermaniraju, known for singing Ayyappa devotional songs, Kummanam Rajasekharan said. Samajam national president and veteran singer K G Jayan would preside over the function. Sabarimala thantri Thazhamon Madom Kandararu Rajivaru would deliver the benedictory address. The keynote address would be delivered by Pandalam Palace Coordination Committee president Sasikumar Varma. Guruvayur Devaswom president T V Chandramohan will formally inaugurate the service programmes of the ‘samajam’.
Ambalappuzha Petta Sangham ‘periyor’ Kalathil Chandrasekharan, Alangattu Petta Sangham ‘periyor’ Vijayakumar, T R Ramanathan, ‘Thiruvabharanam’ box carriers Kulathinal Gangadharan Pillai and Prathapan, Aikya Malaaraya Mahasabha president K R Bhasi, ‘parakottipatti’ exponent Madamon Uthaman, Somasekhara Panicker of Cheerappanchira, Kaduthaswami’s heir Muralidharan Pillai, Manarkattu Sangham ‘periyor’ Ravi Manohar and ‘Ayyappan pattu’ exponent Thiyadi Raman would be honoured at the function.
The meet, to be held at 12 noon, will be inaugurated by Tamil Nadu Ayyappa Sangham ‘periyor’ Aathri Swamigal. B Jayaprakash of Bangalore, A V Lakshmi Narayanan of Chennai and Sudarsan Reddy of Hyderabad would speak at the meet.
The valedictory function would be presided over by poet S Ramesan Nair.
