Even before its release, the Bollywood film Chennai Express starring Shah Rukh Khan is making news for the wrong reasons. Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has threatened to disrupt the screening of the film in theatres.
The film is scheduled to be released on August 8. The threat was in response to the alleged demand of prime slots in theatres for screening Chennai Express by its co-producers and distributors UTV. The MNS film Union has threatened to not allow the screening of the movie in Maharashtra on the ground that marathi films would be sidelined.
“We have learnt that UTV is telling the single-screen owners that wthey should give the 12 to 3 pm, 3 pm to 6 pm, 6 pm to 9 pm and 9 pm to 12 slots for ‘Chennai Express’, it means the theatre owners would be forced to remove other movies that are running in their theatres,” said MNS film wing president Amey Khopkar.
