India has told visiting Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai that the country was ready to provide increased aid for Afghanistan, which is now undergoing a transition period.
President Pranab Mukherjee conveyed the message during his meeting with Karzai who also held talks with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh later on Tuesday evening. Shaida M Abdali, Afghan ambassador to India, had Earlier sought military aid, both lethal and non-lethal, from India. The Afghan president visit comes amid growing border tension with Pakistan.
