Home Minister to visit Russia on April 10-12

Home Minister Sushilkumar Shindewill visit Russia for three days beginning Wednesday duringwhich both sides will discuss issues relating totrans-national terrorism, combating of drug-trafficking andsign a pact on disaster management.

Shinde, who will be accompanied by Home Secretary R KSingh and other senior officials, will meet Russian InteriorMinister Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Minister of Emergency Situation(Disaster Management) Vladimir Puchkov and Director(Minister-rank) of the Federal Narcotics Service of RussiaViktor Ivanov.

"The Home Minister will hold delegation-level talksseparately with three Russian Ministers on various security-related issues of mutual interest, including the issuesrelating to trans-national terrorism, disaster management andcombating of drug-trafficking in the international context," aHome Ministry spokesperson said.

Shinde will also visit various security-relatedinstallations and high-end training facilities in Russia.

The Home Minister and the Russian Federation for DisasterManagement Minister will ink a regulation defining thestructure, function and procedure of the Joint Commissionwhich was established by an agreement signed on December 21,2010 in New Delhi in the area of Emergency Management.

The agreement will enable both the countries to help eachother in the field of Disaster Management (EmergencyManagement), the spokesperson said.
