Navy officer sacked over lewd texts

Embarrassed by the allegations of “wife-swapping”, the Navy on Monday dismissed an officer through a court-martial process for sending “lewd” messages to several women.

The second disciplinary action for such an “indecent behaviour unbecoming of a Navy officer” comes at a time when at least six of its officers at the Kochi-based Southern Naval Command are facing allegations of sexually harassing a Lieutenant’s wife.

Navy spokesperson Commander P V Satish told that Lt Cdr R V Desai was ordered to be dismissed by a court-martial in January this year. “Navy takes stringent action when someone is found guilty of misbehaving with women,” Satish said. The wife of a marine commando posted in Kochi, had alleged that there were incidents of “wife-swapping”.
