BJP to oppose land deal with Bangladesh

The BJP will oppose the proposed land swap agreement between India and Bangladesh. This was decided at a high-level meeting at the residence of BJP parliamentary party chairman L K Advani here on Thursday. The meeting was attended by L K Advani, Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley and Murli Manohar Joshi.

The West Bengal unit BJP presiden, Assam unit president, four Assam MPs, and national vice-president Bijoya Chakravarty were specially invited for the meeting. The BJP will oppose the proposed agreement between the two neighbours because party thinks that the Congress-led UPA Govt is  agreeing to a deal that is more advantageous to Bangladesh than India. “India will give 10,000 acres extra land from West Bengal and 500 acres land from Assam to Bangladesh. What India gets in return is minimal. We will oppose this hastily-drawn land swap arrangement in and outside Parliament,” Chakravarty told Express.
