According to police, the accused, identified as Firoz Khan (35) who works in a private power plant, raped the girl on April 17 after luring her with a chocolate.

After the alleged crime, he dumped the girl at a farm in the town. Her parents found her lying in an unconscious state there the next morning, following which she was rushed to the Government Medical College, Jabalpur.

"Her condition is serious as she is yet to regain consciousness," police said.

Ghansour Police Station in-charge R D Barti said that a case under section 363, 366 and 376 of the IPC was registered against the accused person and police teams have been sent to Delhi and Bihar in search of the accused.
