The Centre on Thursday approved the proposal to provide all-weather road connectivity to all habitations with a population of 100 tribals and above in 82 naxal-hit districts under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana . The Cabinet meeting chaired by the Prime Minister approved the proposal to allow revision of the core network to include left-out habitations. Rural Development Ministry’s proposal came after Tribal Affairs Minister Kishore Chandra Deo pointed out that bulk of the habitations in tribal areas are below the 250-mark. Of the 52,000 habitations in 82 naxal-hit districts, only 19,000 had been connected by roads under the rural roads programme.
