China issues travel advisory to its nationals

China on Friday lodged a strong protest with India over the rape of a Chinese woman here last month, even as it issued an advisory to its nationals, especially women, to avoid travelling alone in the country. The Delhi Police had reported on Thursday that a 23-year-old Chinese woman, who was doing internship in a company at Gurgaon, had alleged that she had been raped by an acquaintance. Following the complaint, the embassy issued a statement that it had lodged a strong protest with the Union Ministry of External Affairs expressing “shock and indignation” and asserted that the security of Chinese citizens cannot be compromised.
