India ‘committed’ to Jaitapur project

India on Tuesday said it was  ‘fully committed’ to clinching the Jaitapur nuclear project deal with France, even as both countries are smoothening some of the wrinkles in the negotiations on cost and the nuclear liability law.

Speaking to reporters ahead of French President Francois Hollande’s visit, Indian Ambassador to France Rakesh Sood said that while India has ‘issues pertaining to cost’, the French have ‘certain concerns regarding our nuclear liability law’.

He said India would also like to take advantage of the new technology inherent in the French-European Pressurised Reactors and ‘upscale our own technology in public and private sector’.
