Namdhari charged with murder in Ponty Chadha case

Sacked Uttarakhand minoritiespanel chief S S Namdhari and his personal security officerwere today charge sheeted in a Delhi court for the offence ofmurder in the November 17 shoot out case at a farmhouse herein which liquor baron Ponty Chadha and his brother Hardeepwere killed while 19 others were booked for other offences.

The charge sheet filed by Delhi Police Crime Branch hasalso named Ponty as an accused as he had reached the place ofincident in accordance with his "well hatched conspiracy" withNamdhari and others to take the possession of the disputedfarm house in south Delhi's Chattarpur area which was underthe custody of Hardeep.

The charge sheet filed in the court of Additional ChiefMetropolitan Magistrate Mukesh Kumar, has said that Ponty andNamdhari were the "main conspirators in armed and forcibledispossession of occupants from farm house No. 42".

The charge sheet has named 19 others who have not beencharged under section 302 of IPC for murder but for othervarying offences ranging from attempt to murder, causinggrievous harm, dacoity, rioting with deadly weapons, housetrespass, kidnapping and illegally confining occupants of thefarm house, destruction of evidence etc.

The charge of criminal conspiracy, common intention andoffence under Arms Act have been imposed on all the 22 accusedincluding Ponty to take over the disputed farm house from thepossession of Hardeep.

The police in the charge sheet mentioned the sequence ofevents about the incident saying that Ponty and Namdhari hadconspired to take over the farm house from the possession ofHardeep.

It said Hardeep had arrived at the scene when Ponty's manwas locking the gate after evicting the occupants of the farmhouse.

Hardeep had fired at the man who was locking the gate andalso at Ponty and in return Namdhari and his PSO shot him.
