Chopper crash: Modi announces Rs 5 lakh aid

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has announced compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the families of armed forces personnel killed in the IAF chopper crash in Uttarakhand on Tuesday.

"I salute our armed forces who sacrificed there lives in saving people in Uttarakhand today. Gujarat government will give aid of Rs 5 lakh to their families," Modi tweeted.

At least 19 people, including Air Force and para-military personnel, were today feared killed when a sophisticated IAF helicopter crashed in bad weather near Gaurikund in Uttarakhand during rescue operations.
