Congress drops Rashid Alvi as spokesman

The Congress on Sunday dropped Rashid Alvi as its spokesperson and brought in a new team of eight spokespersons.

Renuka Chowdhury, Sandeep Dikshit and P C Chacko were retained as spokespersons of the party in the new team. Congress general secretary Janardhan Dwivedi announced the list of spokespersons and said the appointments had been made by Congress president Sonia Gandhi with immediate effect.

The new faces are Raj Babbar, Shakeel Ahmed, Mohan Prakash, Meem Afzal and Bhakta Charan Das. Mohan Prakash and Shakeel Ahmed, who have earlier been spokespersons, are back.
