Delhi Lokayukta Justice Manmohan Sarin on Monday came down heavily on Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit for using her and cabinet minister Rajkumar Chauhan’s photos in loan forms issued by the state government. In response to a complaint filed by BJP leader Harshvardhan, the Lokayukta said the “printing photos on loan application forms is meant for personal gratification and aimed to get unfair advantage from the beneficiaries of the scheme”.
Sarin further held that a public functionary committed to the norms of integrity and conduct should not get his or her photographs printed on forms to gain popularity in elections. The Lokayukta recommended that the President issue an advisory to Sheila and Raj Kumar Chauhan, Minister for Welfare of SC/ST/OBC/Minorities and Handicapped, to desist from printing their photographs on application forms issued under the Delhi Swarozgar Yojana.
