Security lapse: Shinde seeks report

Miffed by Delhi Police’s failure to prevent Sikh protestors from reaching Vijay Chowk, Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde on Monday sought from Lieutenant Governor Tejendra Khanna a report on the security breach that led the roads to Parliament and North Block and South Block being closed down.

Over 200 Sikh agitators, protesting against Congress leader Sajjan Kumar’s acquittal in a 1984 anti-Sikh riots case, had blocked the high security Vijay Chowk intersection. “I have told the L-G to seek a report from Delhi Police. We want to know why police failed to stop the protesters.”  Shinde told reporters. Sources said Shinde is upset that the police did not stop protestors at the intersection near Rail Bhawan & Udyog Bhawan.
