Cops raid Guru's house, seize diary, envelopes

Two days after he was arrested, a police team from Mumbai conducted a search on Sunday at the residence of disgraced son-in-law of BCCI chief N Srinivasan and suspended Chennai Super Kings CEO Gurunath Meiyappan for his alleged involvement in IPL betting.

According to police sources, Meiyappan’s diary and some documents, apart from visiting cards, jerseys and envelopes were seized during the raid, which lasted for close to nine hours.

The police team from Mumbai landed at the posh Cenotaph Road residence of Meiyappan in the morning and began the search a little before 10 am, assisted by Tamil Nadu Police. Two Revenue officials from the state also accompanied the four-member team from the Mumbai Crime Branch.

Police sources said Meiyappan’s family was not at home and that a helper had guided the policemen into the house while four security guards waited at the entrance.
