'IPL probe a diversion tactic'

Former Director General of Police R Nataraj on Sunday said that he wondered why the police were showing keen interest towards the IPL scam when several other cases were pending.

Addressing a gathering at the state-level general council meeting of Anti Corruption Movement here, he observed that the probe into the IPL matching fixing and spot fixing cases were probably meant to draw the attention of the media. Alleging that the present (IPL) controversy was between two rich men, he asked, “I cannot understand why the cops are keen on it, even as several other cases were yet to be solved?”

Later, in an interaction with Express, he stated that the IPL, with its star-spangled affairs, was more a glamorous entertainment than a sport.
