Without mincing words, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said stern action will be taken against officials who show laxity in addressing people’s problems.

“My government will not tolerate indiscipline among the bureaucrats and such officials will be punished without any mercy,” he said while speaking at a two-day meeting of deputy commissioners and chief executive officers of all the 30 districts here on Monday.

The CM observed that people come to meet senior officials and the ministers in Bangalore only when the district administrations fail. This would reflect failure of officials at the district-level.

“Our government will not excuse such officials and punitive action is certain against those who are not only lax but also fail to respond to needs and aspirations of the citizens,” he added.

Siddaramaiah promised that officials will not be disturbed in their respective posts if they understand the aims and objectives of the government and discharge their duties honestly and effectively. “The DCs and CEOs have greater responsibilities in implementing the programmes of the government at district- levels with utmost sincerity”, the CM said.
