Bail for Amway CEO, two directors

The Kalpetta Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on Tuesday granted conditional bail to Amway India Enterprises CEO and Chairman William Scott Pinckney, directors Sanjay Malhotra and Anshu Budhraja, who were held on charges of financial irregularities by Wayanad Police.

Earlier on Monday night, the court remanded the accused for judicial custody for 14 days, who were booked under sections 4, 5 and 6 of the Prize Chits and Money Circulation Schemes (Banning) Act based on complaints filed by Jaffer and Ashraf from Kalpetta and Hariharan from Vaduvanchal, Ambalavayal in 2011 at Meppadi police station. On Tuesday morning, the accused moved a plea seeking bail before the Magistrate and the court granted them conditional bail.

Officials said that as per the order granting bail, the accused should present before the investigation officer whenever demanded and should not go out of the state without the permission of the court.

It was on Monday, US national William Scott Pinckney,62, residing at K 2071, Sainik Farms, New Delhi and directors of the multinational networking company Anshu Budhraja, 47 of DLF Face No.1, Paschim Marg, Gurgaon, Haryana and Sanjay Malhotra, 43 of A 45, CC, Noida were arrested by the Crime Branch, Economic and Offences Wing, Kozhikode. Though they got anticipatory bail in this case, they were arrested on the three cases registered by Meppadi Police Station in Wayanad.

Sources with Crime Branch maintained that five directors including Pinckney are running the operations of the networking company in India.
