Expedite graft probes: CVC to CBI

Central Vigilance Commissioner  Pradeep Kumar on Tuesday reviewed the progress that the CBI has been making in various corruption cases and other matters related to the delay in granting sanction for prosecuting  government officials over allegations of graft, official sources said.

The probe into the disproportionate assets case against SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav and his son and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and irregularities in the coal block allocations were among some of the cases that Pradeep discussed with the CBI chief here at a meeting on Tuesday.

The CBI probe into the alleged acquisition of disproportionate assets by the Yadavs might be closed soon, with investigators saying they have not been able to gather enough evidence, sources said.
