Cabinet Secy Gets Another Extension

NEW DELHI: Ending days of speculation, the Centre has extended the term of Cabinet Secretary Ajit Seth for the third time, this time by six months. His current tenure was to have ended on December 13.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi-headed Appointments Committee of Cabinet on Friday approved extension in service to Seth, who belongs to the 1974-batch UP cadre. The move comes a few days after one of the senior ministers in the Modi Cabinet suggested several names, including that of P K Mishra, Additional Principal Secretary in the PMO, as probable successor to Seth.
