Modi Blames Centre for Flight Delay

BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Tuesday blamed the Centre for a delay in flight clearance for his chopper, seeking an Election Commission probe in the matter.

“My helicopter was not allowed to take off for over three hours in Bareilly. I want the Election Commission to investigate. Party events are informed of in advance,” Modi said at a rally in Madhya Pradesh.

Modi alleged that his flight was held up at the Delhi airport because the Centre tried to “sabotage” his rally schedule. However, Air Traffic Control officials countered his claims, saying that Modi’s flight plan had been submitted only 10 minutes before the takeoff by the private aviation company and considering the traffic at the airport, it was a routine delay.
