Rs 27.11 Crore Cash Seized During Poll Period in Punjab

Punjab Police and Para Military Forces (PMF), have, till date, seized Rs 27.11 crore cash, 155 kg heroin, 92 kg opium and more than 18,000 poppy husk, besides other intoxicants in the state.

Director General of Police, Punjab, Suresh Arora said, “After the implementation of Model Code of Conduct in the state on March 5, the state police and PMFs have seized Cash

(Rs  27,11,54,996) besides recovering poppy husk (18577 kg), opium (97.202 kg), heroin (155.756 kg), smack (2.492 kg), drug powder (42.933 kg), lahan (60,156 kg), illicit liquor (14,6168.205 litre), capsules (1,43,917), tablets (2,15,896), syrup (3799  bottles), country liquor(2,28,220 bottles) and arms (137). 608 proclaimed offenders have been arrested, while 3,130 persons were bound down. 9716 others were bound over under preventive laws during this period.”

The DGP said  a total 2,74,017 weapons, accounting for 92 per cent of the total licensed weapons in the state, have been deposited.
