BHOPAL: In a rude shock to Bhopal Railway Division’s attempts to use the social media to help the rail commuters, the facility has been inundated with obscenity. It had launched a helpline number on Tuesday, which was linked to a WhatsApp account. The purpose behind this was to invite suggestions from the passengers for resolving the complaints regarding train travel. However, within hours of the number being made public, the account was flooded with porn clips and vulgar messages.
“Every minute, we get at least four to five messages on this number, of which 99 per cent are porn video clippings, adult jokes and vulgar messages. On Friday alone, we received close to 4,000 messages and most of them were pornographic in nature”, a railway official said.
According to him, the purpose behind having a WhatsApp account was to have a quick way of sharing audio and video experiences. The Bhopal Division, however, is in no mood to get cowed down by the unpleasant situation and discontinue the service.
