Three Held for Running International Drug Ring

NEW DELHI: An Afghanistan national and his two associates from Kerala were arrested here on charges of drug trafficking and running an international drug cartel from Kuwait, police said.

The officer said that the accused have been identified as Naseer Ahmed from Jalalabad in Afghanistan, Kabeer M P and Biju P from Kerala. “They were arrested while they were in the middle of a transaction of drugs in South Delhi’s Saket on Sunday,” Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajiv Ranjan said.

“The trio had been working on an international narcotic syndicate spread across Kuwait, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India. We found that the whole syndicate was under the command and control of some Kuwait-based kingpins, and information available to individual operatives was strictly limited on a ‘need to know’ basis,” said Ranjan.

A total of 1.936 kg of heroin was recovered, which was kept in a cavity specially crafted in the base of a trolley bag, which was being handed over to Kabeer by Ahmed, in lieu of the money which was paid a few seconds earlier by Biju.
